Ocupus was founded in September 2016, When a group of friends came together to form a home that served as a creative incubator, multimedia arts studio, and guesthouse.
We hosted a 12 room multimedia & performing arts party in our first few months here. Maria Tsaguriya painted our wall as a gift and promotion for this gathering we produced with our community, manifesting Ocupus, the Octopus that occupies Space & Time.
The original ad seeking an additional housemate included the disclaimer that one “Must be ready to fly into space on moment’s notice and form a space colony”
We’ve had several gatherings, large and small, inside the building as well in the backlot, bringing together people from all walks of life to learn more from the wealth & diversity of experience our international community of artists, activists, technologists, adventurers and entrepreneurs has to offer.
